The SCI-FI JANUARY 2017 FEEDBACK Film Festival was a terrific way to start the new year.
The theme of the festival was “CGI”.
Every film showcased had a computer generated imagery of some kind. This is a sign of the future of short films as technology and post-production talent has caught up to the market.
NOTE: Usually our themes are story based as all of the films tie together in the plot or themes. This is our first “technical” theme. Perhaps a bit of a cop-out!
Before the festival, I and the director of “Arkham’s Journal” were interviewed on the Space Channel: WATCH HERE. The tie-in was this was our first official showcased of Fan Fiction Short Films. A gigantic market on the internet.
The first half of films was a selection of the best Sci-Fi short films from around the world. Then the Fan Fiction Festival began in the 2nd half with a showcase of shorts from the Star Wars, Batman, and Question universe. Plus, we showcased a famous short story by Sci-Fi writer Kurt Vonnegut.
I have to admit that I was very nervous about the Fan Fiction selections as people generally have strong opinions about their favorite franchises and/or works based on written material they have an emotional attachment too. In the end, it all worked out as they seemed to be really taken with the films.
More Sci-Fi and Fan Fiction films to come in the 2017 season.
See you at the festivals in 2017.
